If you are one of the 750.000 people living in Amsterdam, you may know that 4 million tourists visit Amsterdam every year. Yet the only time you really meet them is when they ask you the way, or when they are in your way while you’re biking.
You can hardly get mad at them though. Ask yourself how often you have lost your way in some strange city. Chances are that you, too, turned to a local for help, while making clumsy manoeuvres with your city map. Have you tried to speak foreign languages? Then you can probably recall yourself mumbling a sentence that turned out to have a meaning that was unintended, if not embarrassing. In the end, we are all tourists in some place or another.
